In September 2014, 4 months after my partner and the father of my son died, I decided I would take a month to go travelling with my almost 2 and a half year old son. After extensive consultation with my friends and online community, I opted to go to Costa Rica and our flights were booked for 1st January 2015.
I travelled extensively in my late teens, 20s and early 30s, but slowed it down over the last 7 years - so this will be my first time 'travelling' in quite a while - and certainly my first time 'travelling' with a toddler.
Our budget is £3,000, and £1,100 of that was spent on the flights, as you pay full price for anyone over the age of 2. So I'm aiming for around £30 a night on accommodation and the
same on food /transport/entertainmentI decided just as I left that I'd try to write a blog because I figured
a) it might be useful for others thinking of doing such a trip
b) i will have time on my hands while little one sleeps and I can't go anywhere
c) it will be a great way for us to remember what happened
d) it will be nice for family and friends to track our progress.
